Living in Las Salinas aka Popoyo, Nicaragua means dealing with a few things that you cannot control

One of the drawbacks or less desirables of living here is that we do have regular power outages.  . This year seems to be more frequent outages that have been lasting for a couple minutes to hours and particularly on Sunday's this year.  I know it sounds crazy in today's world and unimaginable to most people, but it goes with the territory I suppose...

Another issue we run into living here is the tap water running out ..(there are however solutions to remedy this) Don't put off
having your shower if you know you have running water.  Please keep in mind that the water doesn't go out for days but for a few hours.

The nasty pests that may affect you or may not its up to you to decide...
The first one being geckos. They are harmless in every way, however they are quite abundant little creatures and have a way of showing up in just about every house, shed, building, or dwellings of any sorts. They climb the walls and ceilings more than anything in search of bugs........The second pests that I absolutely do not like is the abundance of scorpions.....for me its quite common to find them in my bathroom, so it is very important to not leave a pile of clothes on the floor, or to pick anything up off the floor or ground without carefully inspecting it.  Third pests is ants coming in ....they are not the typical ants that i had back home, they do not bite nor seem to much care for your food, but they come in a large quantity when they do arrive and seem to never be in much of a hurry to leave. And last but not the least is the mosquito.  Bring spray with you when you visit.  Dengue fever seems to be quite common....I myself do not much worry about the mosquitoes because I have dealt with far worst issues of mosquitoes back home in the Ridge Spring area of South Carolina......
